By the way, if you’re a fan of Heroes at all, do yourself a favor and check out the online comics. No only are they awesome – the art is great – but they fill you in on “in-between” storylines.

Want to know how DL got out of jail? How about a little more to the conversation between Claire and Brody when she crashed his car? Or maybe a little more insight into what exactly happened when Niki set up her own husband?

All this and more if you check them out!

Some heroes!

I don’t know about anyone else, but there are several characters on Heroes that I’m just not sure yet if they’re hero material, or if they’re being set up to become the villains. Not only do they not seem to appreciate their powers, but their personal life leaves a lot to be desired.

Nathan Petrelli, for instance, is on his way to being a crooked politician, regardless of how much you want him to be the good guy. He is in bed with some shady characters to the tune of 4 million dollars for his senatorial campaign, and he is literally in bed with some woman he just met. He refuses to acknowledge his power of flight, although he’s obviously used it several times, and he doesn’t seem the least bit interested in exploring his new-found ability. He also seems to have a serious superiority complex over his brother, and lies to him about being able to help him – then destroys the painting he said he couldn’t get.

Next, there’s DL, who although it’s become obvious that he was framed, has just escaped from jail. As soon as he gets home, he comes across as threatening to his wife, and eventually takes their son and runs – but only after leaving mommy dearest on the floor unconscious. Sure, he’s trying to be better, and with his son’s help he just might make it, but in the meantime, he’s got some work to do.

Lastly, there’s Niki/Jessica – split personality girl who has a seriously mean streak. Although she has been unaware of her so-called ability (I’m still questioning that one) for the past 6 months, she’s now given evil-girl Jessica the okay to take over. It looks like Nikki could pull things together and have a pretty good life if she could just get rid of that pesky murderess living inside of her. How is she ever going to become a “hero,” I wonder.

Maybe the point of characters like these is to see how they overcome their character flaws to truly become heroes. Guess we’ll just have to wait and see.Besides, if Heroes wasn’t such a good show, character dichotomies like this wouldn’t bother me – and that’s really good news for the show, because it means that like many other viewers, I’ll keep watching each week.
