Hiro’s letdown
Ouch! That was a harsh episode this week for Heroes. Not only did Hiro get the crushing news that his new potential love interest is dying one way or another, but he’s now beginning to realize how little control he has over his power. (And man, how crummy is that to teleport out just when he’s about to get the kiss!)
We also see how Nathan’s wife ended up in the wheelchair and find out that he’s been aware of his power for longer than he’s let on. How long was he going to let brother Peter go on and on about flying before he finally shared his little secret? No wonder he feels guilty about his wife being in a wheelchair. And she has to be so nice about it too!
One good thing we see is Niki and DL’s relationship before everything went sour. Looks like Jessica made her first appearance about now, though, and we find out that daddy-dearest was responsible for Jessica’s death. Although I have to say that Jessica has an odd way of “taking care of” her sister…
Oh, and we all know who Sylar is now – and I have to wonder if he really did have any power of his own to begin with or if he is just now absorbing the powers of those he kills. Is he eating their brains or somthing? But then again, if he has to do something like that to gain their power, how did he survive the fall from the stadium? Peter obviously mimiced or drew from Claire’s power of regineration – but what about Sylar?
One thing I was kind of surprised at was the reaction Claire’s dad had about her being on Chandra Suresh’s list. In a past episode, he referred to trying to “help” another person (or persons-I can’t remember) with abilities that ended badly, resulting in an orphaned little girl. This little girl is Claire, whom Mr. Bennett and his wife adopted. Did he not expect the child of someone with “abilities” to have some of her own, or was he just surprised that someone else was onto his little girl also? He doesn’t strike me as the kind of man to be surprised easily.
Oh well, I guess like any other great episode, some questions are answered, but many more are raised. I guess that’s what keeps us coming back each week to watch again!
